Itinerary in Detail
Day 1
Kalpitiya
Kalpitiya is renowned for its water sports, particularly kite surfing, snorkeling and diving, and is one of the best places to watch schools of dolphins as they gambol in the shallow waters off the coast. Known as the ‘birthplace of the nation’, according to legend the Kalpitiya peninsula is where Prince Vijaya, the founder of the Singhalese race, first landed on our shores. With the Indian Ocean to the west and Puttalam Lagoon opening to the sea at Dutch Bay to the east, there is a wealth of choice when it comes to sightseeing or simply relaxing on the beach. After lunch at the hotel, you will spend the first afternoon getting acquainted with your horse or pony, and later enjoy a sunset ride along the seashore.

This afternoon, set off for Anuradhpura, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Anuradhapura en route. Anuradhapura, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization.
