Historical Building tour in Nuwara Eliya
Area around Nuwara Eliya, since it was a protected natural reserve during the Sri Lankan Kingdom no settlement was existing before the 18th century and when the colonial British wanted to set up a Summer capital they built 13 structures to escape the scorching heat of Colombo Summer. First of which currently The now Grand Hotel, The now Hill Club, The GA’s house (Partially burnt down), The Post Office, and 3 Manor Houses exist and the rest are in state of ruins. You will be accompanied by a local historian who would inform you on the distinct Scottish architecture of the area and one Scotsman’s vision to recreate his homeland in their colonial tropics.
